Finishing Details with Jessica Griffin

I love to color, and it's really easy to incorporate my Lindy's Stamp Gang products into everything I color. The finishing details really complete the project bring everything together!

I used Lindy’s Stamp Gang Yellow Rose of Texas to color the felt star, and the stars in the image. I only buy white felt, and I use my LSG products to make the felt, the exact color I want.

I used Cotton Candy Pink Starburst Stain to add some shimmer to the banner that says: "birthday wishes".

I used Lindy’s Stamp Gang’s magicals in Hottie Patottie Hot Pink to add color to the leotard and ballet slippers

This is an older card, but one that shows how the small details really make a huge difference. Lindy's Stamp Gang products are really a great alternative to adding glitter. When I give my kids a card, covered in LSG products, I NEVER worry that they'll touch the finished piece and then put their hands on their face, resulting in glitter in their eyes. You can see the details for the card below on my blog

I'll be back on the 10th! I hope everyone has a great Easter!

Rainbow Card using Color Shots

Hi to all the Lindy's Stamp Gang blog followers out there, today I have a quick, fun and funky rainbow colored card using Color Shots to share with you all.

What I used:

  • Lindy's Stamp Gang Color Shots: Bells of Ireland Green, Magnolia Magenta Gold, Hottie Patottie Hot Pink, Bachelor Button Blue, Witch's Potion Purple, Rhododendron Rose Red and Marigold Yellow Orange.
  • Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst Spray on leaf - Bells of Ireland Green
  • Lindy's Stamp Gang Glitz Spritz on flower - Royal Amethyst Fire
  • Pink Paislee Resist Cardstock - 12 x 12 Mistables
  • Prima Leaf,  Say it in Crystals (Black corner embellishments cut from border edging)
  • Magnolia flower (large) and black bead spray
  • Flower coloured with Copic Markers and Glitz Spritz - Royal Amethyst Fire
  • Black Opulence Ribbon
  • Eclipse Black 100 Card
  • Stickles - Stardust

What I did:

Cut resist card to size and choose a rainbow of Color Shots.  My shots have been pre-mixed with water.  You could also create monotone cards (eg: all different blues) which also look amazing!
Uvs130317-001a
Using a small spoon or pop stick, spoon a small amount of each color onto top edge of card, making sure each color touches the one next to it like this... Uvs130317-002a
Uvs130317-004a
Gently tilt the card to allow colors to run.
Uvs130317-005a
Add more color if needed.  If you prefer to leave this looking drippy, stop at this step and leave the colors to dry.
Uvs130317-006a
Spritz card with water to make colors wick and bleed.
Uvs130317-008a
Once again - tilt card so that colors run, the excess will run off - I use this excess color on tags or pages so I don't waste it..
Uvs130317-010a
Use a paper towel to wipe excess color from the resist design (use can remove any stubborn color with a baby wipe).  Wipe from top to bottom (in line with colors not across) and change paper towel after each wipe so as not to contaminate the colors. Uvs130317-012a
Leave flat to dry (this won't take long).
Uvs130317-018

Now you could use this as the base for an image, die cut it, use as journal background, but I thought this was so pretty I didn't really want to cover it up!   In an effort to show off my background, I added some black card, ribbon and embellishments to contrast with all those colors, plus a flower I had previously colored and this is the result.....

Hoppy Easter Candy Cup Favor

Hi Everyone! I'm just loving the new Tim Holtz Tapered Fringe Alterations die. I instantly wanted to create an Easter favor with a chocolate bunny. I die cut the Tapered Fringe die with Crepe paper and sprayed the Lindy Stamp Gang Flat Fabio Greased Lightnin Green to create the grass and also added mini white flowers that was sprayed with Starburst Clam Bake Beige. I just love how its the perfect shade of green. I die cut the Sizzix XL Candy Cup die with DCWV Dear Jane Stack and filled the bottom with some American Moss. This paper stack is just gorgeous. I wrapped white seam binding which I sprayed with Scintillating Silver and added a white rose from I Am Roses that was also sprayed with Flat Fabio Pink Ladies Pink. I slightly sprayed the rose to give it a two-toned look. On the front of the candy cup, I fussy cut out one of the images from the stack and created a banner with the stamped sentiment Hoppy Easter. This makes a fun favor for your kids and their friends. Hugs,Bona

Art to the Eggstreme with Jessica Griffin

Remember last month when I did the video tutorial on how to make your own Washi Tape? Well, I couldn't resist using the same technique to create my eggs for the Art to the Eggstreme contest

I used the same techniques featured in the video, I just wrapped the tape around a papier-mâché egg.

I used a variety of Embossing Powders, Starbursts, and Flat Fabios

I look forward to seeing all the entries into the Art to the Eggstreme contest! And if you give the Washi Tape tutorial a try, I'd love to see what you create!
